The Wanner Ford Story
Wanner Ford began operation on May 16th, 2008 when Michael and Victoria Wanner purchased the assets of Victory Ford at the 620 North Reading Road location. Wanner Ford is independently owned by the Wanner family with Michael Wanner acting as President and General Manager.
The Wanner's acquisition of the Ford business occurred just before the economic crash of 2008 which heralded the worst economic time in the United States since the Great Depression of the 1930's. During the latter half of 2008 fuel prices surged past $4.50 per gallon of gas, blue chip banks failed, insurance companies became insolvent, the mortgage crisis hit, and two American car manufacturers were asking the Federal government for bailout money. It was not a good year to start a new car dealership but the Wanner's were convinced that Ford was the right brand, with the right management team, and the local Ephrata community was the right place to start a business. During the following year (2009) many car dealerships ceased operation while the Federal government forced the closure of many more and it was an extremely low point in automobile business history.
However, Wanner Ford, staffed by a committed group of employees focused on providing the best possible sales and service experience to customers, was able not only to survive, but also thrive during these dark and turbulent times. Wanner Ford became the fastest growing Ford dealer in Pennsylvania in 2009 and continued to hold that position throughout 2010 based on year-over-year retail sales percentage of growth.
At Wanner Ford we are proud of our accomplishments and while we could rest on our laurels, it is not in our DNA to do so. Our staff at Wanner Ford believes in continuous improvement and we are constantly looking to improve our level of customer satisfaction and support. Hence, the launch of this great new website. We encourage open feedback from our customers both good and bad and we strive to change our business procedures to not only exceed our customers' expectations, but to delight them at every opportunity.
We plan to grow Wanner Ford as a company in the current location and we plan to grow further as a company in the greater Lancaster County area through acquisition and startups both in the automobile retail and wholesale sectors of this great business that we call "the car business."
